I finally got around to creating  gallery of images from Arles. So many points of inspiration, particularly for installations. I noted a couple that really stood out, here.

Here is a link to the gallery. I will add a few more notes to this post over the coming days.

And a few screen shots of the installations, with the odd note.

Susan Meiselas

Loved the use of Susan’s detailed notes and research.

Mood light, spotlights.

Walls of Influence

Multi-media … maps, videos, stories.

Fifty Years of Rencontres D’Arles

Innovative hangings. Bulldog clips on strings.

Mixing image sizes, text. Lots of ‘flat’ photographs affixed directly to the walls.

My Body Is A Weapon

Libuše Jarcovjáková’s use of large scale wall mounting, with smaller photos on it. And handwritten notes on the wall.

La Movida

Transparencies, contact sheets, negatives everywhere. Use a loupe.

Datazone / Rhone

Our favourite shows – amazing scale and use of space. And Rhone used lovely metallic prints.

Guillaume Simoneau – Murder

Printing on silk, against the light.

Home Sweet Home

Bold wall colours, dramatic spotlighting.

Books

Lots of plain covered, embossed, stylish books.
