I asked ChatGPT to create film emulations for use in Lightroom, for Agfa CT-18 and Agfa CT-21 (my beloved slide films from yesteryear).

I was presented with comprehensive recipes, which work (at least, to my eyes).

Here is CT-18.

Using an iPhone DNG image, here is 1) the original, unprocessed 2) Agfa CT-21, nicely ‘warm’ and 3) Agfa CT-21, slightly cooler and more refined overall. Click on image to get full size.

I also asked DeepSeek to create presets. Here is the regulating CT-18 recipe. Simpler, but with some interesting similarities and differences.

Whilst ChatGPT can create the xml files to download and use straight away, DeepSeek cannot, so you have to create a text file then change its type.

Here are the results. First, the DeepSeek version.

Then, ChatGPT.

I think I have a preference for the DeepSeek version.

I did many other recipes – Fuji Velvia, Kodachrome etc. Let me know if anyone would like the recipes or preset xmps.
