I got confirmation today that I have two weeks at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution, December 4th onwards (effectively until Christmas). This is manageable within the FMP timelines (just). Lots of time, though, to think through what can be part of the installation, and how best to execute.
The venue is one of the best in Bath, hosting exhibitions and (perhaps more importantly) regular talks on all matters artistic and scientific. It is a large space, and they have various aids for an installation – stands, tables and so forth. Here’s the basic floor plan:
A couple of years ago, PhotoBath ran a Sebastião Salgado exhibition there, which I part-sponsored, so I already know the venue and some of the people there. For the Salgado event, alongside the photographs, we had books, displays, posters and continuous video running.
In the next couple of weeks I will take some location shots and think about how best to present things in the upcoming FMP proposal.
Here area few shots I took of the Salgado show.
And here’s a first set of ideas on the installation.
